I went across with a a couple of friends to the little island of Kererra, on the west coast of Scotland, about a quarter of a mile from the ferry port of Oban. The ferry is tiny and it takes less than 5 minutes to cross the Sound of Kerrera. It was more than a little bit windy and obviously since we were biking it was straight in our faces.

We had a look around the ruined Gylen Castle and across the Firth of Lorne to the Isle of Mull.

Then back to set up the tents which was quite challenging given the strength of the wind.

After getting some food down the rain started and we decided that sleep was the best option. The wind howled and the rain hammered against the tent like a snare drum but we all got at least some sleep and woke to a bit of sunshine so we had breakfast and packed the tents then set off up the west side of the island.

The west side of the island. F*** me it was steep.! It was worse because we were loaded with tents, sleeping bags and cooking gear but it involved getting off and pushing at some points. We continued about 8 miles up to Kerrera Marina on Ardentrive Bay at the north end of the island.

After a rest and a quick cup of tea we headed back to the jetty to get the ferry back to the mainland then back to the car.

The photos look nice and sunny but when it was steep, torrential rain or blowing a hoolie you couldn't manage to take any photos. It was only about 14 miles but I haven't been so knackerred in quite some time.
